• ASK YOURSELF WHICH PROBLEMS YOU CAN HELP SOLVE and consider how you approach the entire guest service experience, from holding consultations, to cutting, styling, coloring hair and retexturizing. What would be new and exciting when it comes to professional products and services?
• CONSIDER ALL THE AREAS OF THE SALON OR BARBERSHOP including the Reservation Desk, Stylist Station, Wash House℠, Color Bar℠, Tool Bar℠ and Take Home℠ areas. What would be innovative with regard to Take Home℠ products and tools?
• WHAT WOULD YOU INVENT TO IMPROVE ANY ASPECT OF HAIRDRESSING and make it unique, faster, better and more effective?
• WHAT IS A UNIQUE, PROBLEM-SOLVING PRODUCT that would be of value to Paul Mitchell Schools, salons, barbershop or their savvy guests?

Video General Presentation Tips

Stay professional | Have an outline | Rehearse

• Film in a quiet space with a neutral background (like a blank wall).
• Keep it simple. Concentrate on your message and information. (We aren’t expecting a big-budget production).
• Feel free to edit your video as needed.
• Keep your video under two minutes.

1. Can I have music? Sure. Just be sure it doesn't overpower the information.
2. Do I need a patent? No.
3. Should I be on camera? Up to you! You can convey your idea any way you want, as long as it's effective.
4. Can I enter with a partner? The entry must belong to one person, but you can collaborate with whomever you want (as long as you have their permission).
5. Can I ENTER MORE THAN ONE BIG IDEA? Sure. Each idea must have its own entry form and video.
6. Should I make the video really creative or fancy? Creativity of the presentation is not a factor in judging. We're looking for innovative ideas, communicated clearly.
7. How do I upload a video to YouTube using the “unlisted” privacy setting? Click here to view step-by-step instructions.
8. When will the winners be announced? The three finalists and 10 runners-up, as well as all  Paul Mitchell School owners and directors, will be contacted on or before March 30, 2019.
9. CAN MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS ENTER? No. This contest has been created exclusively for currently enrolled Paul Mitchell School Future Professionals and team members.
